Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research’ (INSPIRE) scheme is one of the flagship programmes of Department of Science and Technology. The inspire awards aims to motivate students in the age group of 10 to 15 years and studying in classes 6 to 10. The objective of the scheme is to target one million original ideas / innovations rooted in science and societal applications to foster the culture of creativity and innovative thinking among school children. Students from all government or private schools are invited by Central Government of India, irrespective of their educational boards.

St. Xavier’s School Mahad in the district of Raigad of Maharashtra state, is always hunting for such opportunities for their students to shine the brightest. Inspire awards Science Exhibition, Divisional level was held on 6^th, 7^th, 8^th Jan 20 at Ambernath B.R. Harane Engineering college. Total 8 districts including Raigad, Palghar, Thane, Pune, ( Central School ), Mumbai ( North, South, West ) participated in the Exhibition. 134 models were exhibited by the students. All together 39 models were from whole of the Raigad district. 8 models from Mahad Taluka were chosen out of which 5 belonged to St. Xavier’s school. The proudest moment was that out of selected 4, two prizes were bagged by St. Xavier’s school Mahad, since winning is an obsession for Xavierites. St. Xavier’s  school emerged as the champion. Master Abhishek Arun Gangan (std. X)  and Master Lakshya Mankani ( std. VIII) are selected for the state level to be held at Nasik. Though we belong to a remote area, our talent was noticed by one and all at the exhibition.

 If you can dream, you can do it ! St. Xavier’s has proved its mettle at Taluka Level science exhibition, held at Fajandar Highschool Vahoor, Mahad. We were the school with maximum enrollment, as every year. Every model was unique. And once again Master Abhishek Arun Gangan won first prize in the secondary group.

The selection of the participation is absolutely transparent. The science committee judges every student’s model on the basis of novelty, social applicability, environment friendliness, user friendliness and comparative advantage over the existing similar technologies.           Hardwork pays very rightly, “Let your light shine.”, being our motto we follow it very seriously. Many more achievements on the way.
